remove.bg has announced that its standalone website closes on December 1, 2026 (9:00 CET), with background removal moving into Canva; unused pay-as-you-go credits on the site expire the same day. If you just want to upload a picture and get a transparent PNG straight away, this tool does that.

How do I make a picture’s background transparent?

Can I use it without an account? Are previews limited?
Yes. Without an account you get 10 free photo previews an hour, 30 when signed in; solid backgrounds aren’t limited. Downloading a full-size AI result needs an account.
How do I put a white, blue or red background behind the subject?
After the background is removed, pick white, blue, red or any colour under New background; the preview updates straight away and the PNG downloads with it. Handy for marketplace product shots and ID photos—crop to the required ID size separately.
The cut-out isn’t quite right—what can I do?
Open the brushes: Erase paints out leftover background, Restore brings back anything removed by mistake, with adjustable size and undo. Touch-ups run in your browser at no charge, and they carry over when you unlock the full size.
How does the AI decide what to keep?
It keeps the most prominent subject—usually a person, pet, product or character—and removes background people and clutter. If two things are equally prominent it may keep both; paint out the one you don’t want with Erase.
What size is the download?
The PNG matches your picture’s size; pictures longer than 2560 px are scaled to 2560 first. The free preview is a reduced view; only the full-size download uses a credit.
